Maintenance management reports give an evaluation of property, so their essential repairs may be detailed and budgeted for to produce annual repairs and maintenance. These can then be costed,  and form part of programme of works to renovate commercial and residential buildings, or this may be tied into contractual limitations of heads of terms, for example if the work is to be done under a service charge provision.

A pre-emptive maintenance report is based upon investigations of conditions of a building, it identifies the compartments that should be routinely replaced ahead of failure. Astute clients realise the savings that can be made if they systematically replace building components prior to their failure and consequential damage.
